These days, it seems like everyone has a blog. Finding a knitter, particularly, who doesn't blog, seems to be quite difficult. I used to spend alot more time reading blogs, but as free time seems to be more limited by the day, I find I'm reading fewer. There are several, however, that I read on a regular basis. The writers are great, their blogs are full of inspiration, helpful tidbits and sometimes, humor.
On my regular reading list are:
http://www.purlbee.com - I love Purl Soho! They are one of my favorite online yarn shops, and partly because I can purchase fabric and quilting supplies at the same time I purchase my yarn. Think.....you've got a yummy chocolate ice cream in front of you, and you top it with hot fudge. That's my shopping experience at Purl. Their blog is fabulous. There are ssssooooo many projects (knitting, sewing, crocheting) on the site I want to try, and so many of the patterns they offer are free. Check out this pillow!
It's hand stitched. I love it! Contemporary & colorful! I have, of course, added it to my ever growing to do list!
Next on the list is
http://www.lollygirl.com/blog. Lolly lives not far from me, and is an archivist. I love to read to her blog, as I love her writing style, and her photography is fabulous!!! She's a great inspiration to me, and my desire to add as much color to my world as I possibly can. I've participated in Project Spectrum the last 2 years, and although I haven't completed as many projects as I would have liked to, I have completed some fun and colorful items, that I might not have otherwise cast on, if it were not for her inspiration. She offers fabulous recipes, patterns, and she shares her "look within" moments.
One of my all time favorites is Farm Girl Fare at
http://www.foodiefarmgirl.blogspot.com/. I could talk about this blog forever, but the first thing that pops up is YUM!!! Farmgirl eats much the same way we do, purchasing local produce or growing her own, eating whole grains, etc. I have tried many, many of her recipes (the white bean pesto spread is next).
Farmgirl shares pictures of her adorable little farm critters, which leaves me feeling envious. Some day hubby and I hope to have a farm like Farmgirl's. In the meantime, I'll live it vicariously through her, by following her blog.
