If you follow my blog, you know by now that my love for quilting has quickly grown enough to compete with my love of knitting. I love color, and the contemporary fabrics that have come out over the last few years have left me lusting....just itchin' to get my paws on it. Amy Butler and Kaffee Fassett are just extraordinary designers, and neither one has come out with pattern I do not like yet. I aspire to be cloned an Amy Butler, but I'm certain it won't be in this life.
My love of color, and now of quilting, led me to a little exploration of my own....hand dyed quilting fabric. A dear friend of mine and I have been talking for months about hand dying some fabric, and making quilts for ourselves (since we're always making them for someone else.). The problem is, we can never seem to get our schedules to align in such a way to allow for this. Being the impatient, and sometimes impulsive person I can be, I took the leap......
Isn't it beautiful! I am so in love, and have been pooring through book after book, and web site after web site, to find a quilt pattern that sings to this fabric. I'm still looking.
I took another leap, (my husband thinks I've just downright gone mad), and opened up an Etsy shop to sell my hand dyed fabrics. May I introduce to you.....
The Sassy Stitchery!
I've had oodles of sewn items, that I sewed just for fun, lurking in my sewing room. Enough to start to set up a store. You can find it http://www.sassystitchery.etsy.com. I'll be building this store up gradually, adding more hand dyed fabrics and the like. After all, I have to find a way to pay for my not so inexpensive hobbies, right?
